Cold, dry likely

Cold, dry and foggy weather is expected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi during the next 24 hours. According to Pakistan Meteorological Department, expected minimum temperatures in Islamabad is -2C and Rawalpindi -1C to -3C. Similarly, very cold and dry weather is expected in Murree, where temperature is expected to down to -3 during next 24 hours. Dry weather with cool night is likely in the city over the next 24 hours.

According to the Met Office report issued here on Saturday, the minimum temperature is expected to remain in the range of 12 to 14 degrees centigrade. The Met Office said mainly cool/cold and dry weather is likely to prevail elsewhere in the region. Light rain may occur in Zhob, Quetta, Sibi and Nasirabad divisions of Balochistan. The Multan Met office has forecast cold and dry weather with chances of mist in the morning for the city and its suburbs during the next 24 hours.

On Saturday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded as 23.2 and 7.8 degrees centigrade, respectively. Humidity was recorded 82 per cent at 8am and 48 per cent at 5pm. The Quetta Met Office has forecast cloudy weather with chances of rain and thunder storm for the city on Saturday with the maximum temperature expected to range between 12 degrees Centigrade and 14 degrees Centigrade.


Freezing cold continue to grip most parts of Swat as rain and snowfall restarted in the valley bringing the mercury down to minus 3 degree centigrade in Malamjabba. According to Provincial Met office, snowfall continues on mountain peaks in Kalam, Malam Jabba, Miandam, Marghuzar and other northern areas of the province. So far one feet snow has been received in Kalam whereas six inches snow has been recorded in Malam Jabba area of the Swat valley. People have been restricted to their houses due to severe cold and sharp increase has been witnessed.
